What a year!!!

I felt compelled to share a lesson with everyone on how to win at modeling. What I’m about to share is not unheard of. It is very necessary to discuss as we approach another year.

It is so important to have someone in your corner who has your back and will tell you like it is. This happened to me when my boyfriend and I were talking about going to the next level. It made me think about the question, what would you do if you know you couldn’t fail? Immediately my creative juices began to flow. YOU stand in YOUR way! Get out of the way and get to dreaming…

I come across so many women who want to be a model and one of the reasons why they are not modeling is because they don’t have a strong individual in their life who pushes them to excel and who keeps it real.

My boyfriend and I had a really tough conversation about myself and I couldn’t say anything put listen to the truth. Sometimes the truth hurts, but it will make you stronger and it will only get you closer to your goal. Thank you baby….this is stuff that I didn’t get out of my Master’s degree schooling.

As it relates to modeling, this is a tough business but it is also fun. It truly is what you make it. You will experience highs and lows just like with any other industry. The rejection is enough to make you give up and doubt yourself so having that “special someone” most definitely helps.

I recently went to an event that featured a makeup artist who candidly talked about her experiences with teenagers and their skin. This makeup artist opened up and spoke about how dirty teenagers faces are as they typically don’t have a regimen. She stated that when it comes time for prom that the girls tell her that they don’t wash their faces everyday or that they just use water. It is never to early to start taking care of your skin.

This made me think about my 8-year-old daughter and how I constantly have to remind her to wash her face. It is one of those things that seem like a no brainer but for most young girls and teens they forget to do it. Typically, kids and teens are so active and their hormones are everywhere causing nasty breakouts that it is imperative to do more than just soap and water.

I think back to when I was growing up and my skin was flawless throughout high school. I used Noxzema and Seabreeze back then, but I was also modeling and doing pageants. No acne breakouts at all. One day suddenly, I woke up as a woman in my early 20′s experiencing breakouts on my forehead and realized that I had to change something quick. Noxzema and Seabreeze wasn’t cutting it anymore and I had to switch over to Aloe Vera Cream and Olay Regenerist Microdermabrasion Kit. This is all I use now and have not had a problem in addition to drinking lots of water.

Everyone’s skin is different like everything else. I’m not telling you to run out and get these products that I use but I am saying that you should be using more than just soap and water. Soaps that you wash your hands with shouldn’t be used on your face too. I really do believe that the younger you start out and develop good skin habits, the more beautiful your skin will be when you become an adult. To this day makeup artists tell me how beautiful my skin is and I say thank you to all of them.
